In addition, automakers' websites often list these "secret warranties." For example, Nissan's website currently lists service campaigns for paint defects on certain Nissan Rogue SUVs, suspension problems with some Nissan Altima sedans, and brake fluid problems specific to the 2009 Nissan Murano.See more TSB down what are my rights if I miss a payment?Ĭontact whoever it is you're trying to pay and let them know the situation. If you provide your VIN to a dealership, it should be able to tell you whether any active TSBs apply to your vehicle and whether you would be charged for the repair. Note that some TSBs released before 2012 will not be available and that the coverage period for older TSBs may have expired.Ī dealership or repair shop can also look up available TSBs using the vehicle's VIN. If you expand the tab for associated documents, you can even find the repair instructions that manufacturers send to dealers. You can sort these communications by type of problem. There is also a tab for manufacturer communications, which is where you'll find TSBs, service campaigns, and other important information. The site will display recalls, investigations, and complaints. Type in either your vehicle's unique 17-character vehicle identification number or its year, make, and model. To find a TSB, go to NTHSA's Safety Issues & Recalls page. This underscores the importance of keeping your service and repair records. If a consumer already has paid for a repair that is now covered by a service campaign, he or she can ask the automaker for a reimbursement, either through a dealership or directly. "Work done for service campaigns is covered by the manufacturer, sometimes even beyond the warranty period," says John Ibbotson, chief automotive services manager at Consumer Reports' Auto Test Center. These campaigns are sometimes called "secret warranties," because automakers don't have the same legal obligations to notify owners that they would with an official recall required by law for a safety defect. But occasionally, a problem covered by a TSB can turn into what automakers call a "service campaign," "service action," "customer service campaign," or "warranty extension." That means the automaker has agreed to cover the cost to repair a specific problem, sometimes in response to a class-action lawsuit or the risk of litigation but sometimes on its own. In most cases, customers will have to pay for these repairs, or they may be covered under a vehicle's existing warranty. Previously, car owners had to search online forums for TSBs, or even pay for them from third parties. Now that consumers can search TSBs, they can go to a dealership armed with more knowledge about the fix that needs to be performed and they can be confident that the technician knows how to solve the problem. "Despite the law being updated in 2012 to require communications from manufacturers to their dealers to be posted online, the government failed to do so-which is why we took DOT to court," CAS executive director Jason Levine said in a written statement. Now that NHTSA is following through, CAS has dropped the suit. The Center for Auto Safety, an advocacy group, filed a lawsuit against NHTSA in 2016 after it failed to make TSBs, service campaigns, and other manufacturer communications available on its website despite being required to do so by a federal law enacted in 2012. The effort to add TSB information to the NHTSA website has been in the works for a long time. "In the past, people too often would not get the repairs their car needed unless their dealer was extra-vigilant and informed them about it proactively." "It's now much easier for people to learn about issues with their cars that a dealer will fix for them," says William Wallace, manager of safety policy at Consumer Reports. The TSBs appear in the search results as manufacturer communications.) From there, select the "Vehicle" tab and search using the Year Make Model for your vehicle. (Note that the link goes to the NHTSA recalls page. These are problems that dealers know about but that automakers haven't routinely shared with the general public.Ī new National Highway Traffic Safety Administration database allows you to search your vehicle's make, model, and year to find technical service bulletins, or TSBs, that are created by the manufacturer and shared with dealers about how to repair recurring problems. After a yearslong legal battle, federal auto safety regulators are providing consumers free access to information about potential problems with their vehicles.

Will we finally get to learn more about George Lucas’s legendary Whills, the early Force wielders rumoured to hold the secret to becoming a Force Ghost? Or will Disney take Star Wars mythos in a completely new direction now that Lucas is no longer in charge? It bodes well that James Mangold will be working in a period that remains shrouded in mysteryĮither way, this feels like a brave decision by Lucasfilm, largely because such an early period in Star Wars “history” remains mostly unwritten. Its central protagonist will be a Jedi who learns to use their powers to battle oppression in an era of chaos. The second new film, it was revealed, will see James Mangold overseeing a tale set in the earliest days of the Force. Baby Yoda and Mando on the big screen? It had to happen, and now it will. And Celebration confirmed that Star Wars stalwart Dave Filoni will oversee a new movie that is expected to act as a climactic cinematic event for shows such as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. We’ve already seen with the stupendous Mandalorian and the mercurial The Book of Boba Fett that there’s plenty of fertile ground in the period just after the original trilogy took place, as the last vestiges of the fallen Empire battle the forces of the New Republic. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed at London’s ExCel that the Disney-owned studio now envisages Star Wars as a saga that takes place across vast stretches of time, from the very early days of the Jedi, to a future beyond Rise of Skywalker. Scouts can spend energy to active stealth for a few turns, making them undetectable and perform a critical hit when attacking during stealth. Lastly, these gun-tooting fighters regain 10% of their health when entering a new level. This leads into Marine’s active skill that casts adrenaline, allowing Marine to heal and convert the pain modifier to health and gain protection for 5 moves. This class has a resource based on Fury, which fills up a metre from each kill. Marine is what you would expect DoomGuy to be. Starting a run begins by picking between three classes (Marine, Scout, Technician) each one coming with their own skills and traits (resource, passive, active). I am not good enough to beat this game on its highest challenge, so some of these badges will be never unlocked. In fact, there are so many achievements, medals and badges to earn that I feel this is a dream for players who love to try beat everything in a game. The same is for the difficulty selection, as Easy, Normal, and Hard are available, but Ultraviolence and Nightmare! require unlocking by once again hitting certain achievements. A few modes are initially locked and require certain accomplishments to be met before they open up, which is done through this regular mode. I say this because regular is the core of the game experience that other modes then modify to switch up the challenge. This is not necessarily a dig at past roguelikes, but when something comes along that claims to be inspired by the hyper-action of Doom, then yeah, the player is already expecting something from the developer, and thankfully the team knows this and has incorporated frantic action into the classic roguelike formula. It does away with any of the overly complicated mechanics that can sometimes be part of roguelike games. This is due to Jupiter Hell being easy to understand. If Doom 2016/ Doom Eternal taught me anything, it is that I love to wreck demons to some quality metal tunes, although Jupiter Hell is a bit more generic in its metal music, it does make the action more satisfying.Įverything is quick in Jupiter Hell, even the tutorial joins in this by letting you know that it will only be a couple of minutes long before you are set free to journey into hell. The hero likes to swear, is ready to kill without hesitation and has many one-liners ripped straight from other games/movies of that era, and of course, the music is heavy metal, which fits well with the theme of the game. The visuals are old school, given a stylised CRT monitor look by bending the image every so slightly on the screen. This is going for the 90s sci-fi feel and look. The player is an alone marine who has to make an emergency landing on one of the moons of Jupiter, where he finds out everyone is dead, so must make his way through the legions of zombie humans, beasts and demonic forces to escape what is essential hell on Jupiter…get it? Yeah, okay, so it is not the most imaginative name, but it is straight to the point, just like the game itself. The game keeps it simple and straight to the point to set up the themes of the game through a flashy animated cutscene. Jupiter Hell is looked upon as a spiritual successor to DRL, starting life on Kickstarter back in November 2016, then jumping to Steam Early Access in 2018, and now releasing version 1.0 in August 2021.Īs with Doom, Jupiter Hell skips any notion when it comes to story. DRL took the themes of Doom and Doom II and morphed, as the title suggests, into a roguelike. The developer, ChaosForge, initially created a fan-made game called Doom, the Roguelike, shorten to DRL after a cease and desist notice was sent to the developer by ZeniMax Media to stop using the Doom name. This is because there is some history behind the birth of Jupiter Hell. Jupiter Hell is going to have to do a lot of ripping and tearing to get through the noise of the competition to show the audience why it should be played this year – hint: it should.ĭoom fans might have noticed that little nod to id Software‘s first-person shooter in the opening paragraph. It easily takes the gold medal – searching for the tag on Steam brings back over 3,000 titles, so fans of those games have plenty of options to pick from. That win surely belongs to the roguelike. Having handled a lot of Trailer Attacks on the site, I feel I should correct myself and apologise to the battle royale genre because clearly that is no longer the leader in been overused. I remember when I was covering a battle royale game last year called Spellbreak, a rather good one I might add, and in that opening paragraph, I mentioned how the Buzz Lightyear meme of “ X, X Everywhere” was so appropriate to that genre. \(score\_ bfr = 20\times \frac\) are for those after the spring break. This will be a great mixer when finished. Another buddy who is a EE/audio designer has offered to build a new summing buss/amps based on API opamps. I don't think I will need anything much more than a new frame to accomodate the smaller size and some wire to get it all running. I have access to the original design engineer on the console as my Dad had worked for Auditronics and he has agreed to help me rebuild the console. All the modules and such in the console are in excellent condition, but sadly the guy who had it ripped out the wiring harnesses and made it pretty much useless as it is. It cost me about $250 for gas & dinner for the 4-5 friends that helped me take it down and load it up. About 4 days later I got a call from a buddy in Nashville (he had no knowledge of my coversation on Gearslutz) that he had come across the console, he told me that it was going to the dump in a week and that if I wanted it I could have it for "Free", just pick it up. We replied back & forth talking about the console and as I had lost track of this board many years before, I stated that I wish I could get it back as it would be great with a PT system for front-end and summing. One guy replied that it was the first "Real" console he had ever worked with. I mentioned this board and it's original owner in Dallas. Last year on my birthday I chimed in on a post at Gearslutz discussing Auditronics consoles. I originally owned this console in the late 70's, very early 80's but when I went from 16 to 24 track I had to get a new board with more inputs (Soundworkshop Series 30 with 28 I/O). The story behind this Auditronics/Spectrasonics console is really cool. I picked up a 20 input Auditronics/Spectrasonics analog console last year (Aerosmith's "Toys in the Attic" was recorded on one, as well as most of the later Stax Stuff and ZZ Top's first few albums.) This console is to be modified into a 16x2 summing mixer with direct outs on all the input modules to PT, the DA7 will serve as a monitor mixer for the PT system via the ADAT I/Os while tracking and also to bring extra outputs back in while mixing. I had no idea why until I started messing with the Faderport and saw that I needed to raise the slider before recording to set my levels.Got a MkI here, still chugging along with no problems. When I started to record I would use my mouse to slide my audio level up but then the slider on screen would always bottom out automatically. I just got a Presonus faderport and the reason I didnt hear any audio was because I had the slider all the way down! I wasn't using the faderport at the time and that was why I didnt hear any recording. I could hear through my Scarlett though so I knew I was on the right track but recorded audio wouldnt play back. Once I did that I could see my audio levels but I didnt hear anything. One thing I I discovered was I didnt have my settings in StudioOne2 set up correct on the input and output. I tried that but found setting it to S/PDIF sounded better. One question, I see on sync source you have it set to internal. Kempermaniac, that pic really helped me out big time. I still want to watch the video you guys are referencing to better understand the mixcontrol software but all seems well now. When a key is inserted into the key mortise lock cylinder and rotated clockwise 360 degrees, it causes the straight bolt from the deadlock body to project outward into the "locked" position. How A Deadlock WorksThe most common storefront door deadlock set up is when a key mortise lock cylinder is threaded on the exterior side of the storefront door deadlock, and on the interior side is a thumbturn mortise lock cylinder. The deadlock body is designed to be mortised into the storefront door's lock stile. The deadlock face is designed to have a faceplate attached to it. On the face of the deadlock is where the straight bolt projects outward. This is where the mortise lock cylinder or mortise lock thumbturn can be threaded in. At the top of the lock body chassis is a threaded mortise lock cylinder hole on each side of the lock body. For these reasons deadlocks are preferred storefront door lock choice for the majority of storefront doors.ĭeadlock ComponentsA storefront door lock is comprised of a rectangular lock body which houses a straight bolt. Deadlocks are designed for use on swinging storefront doors and are not used on sliding storefront doors. The thick laminated steel of the deadlock makes it impossible for potential forced entry by cutting with a hacksaw or prying with a crow bar. The heavy duty straight bolt projects 1-3/8" from the lock body for maximum security. It is easy to identify a deadlock because it uses a thick laminated steel straight bolt. In this article we explain the different types of storefront door locks.ĭeadlockThe deadlock is the most common type of storefront door lock. Storefront door locks vary in design but all function with one same goal, and that is to keep the door locked. Types Of Storefront Door LocksA storefront door lock is a mechanism which is mortised into the door's lock stile and is designed to project a bolt into the door frame jamb to keep the door secured within the frame. Maxon Crumb is more functional, and a talented painter (as per the family genre, he portrays incredibly disturbing sexual subjects like incest and abuse). He committed suicide by overdose in 1993. Crumb’s childhood artistic collaborator-identified as a pedophile, and though he never acted on his urges, he refused to leave his mother’s house. Crumb also features Robert Crumb’s brothers, Maxon and Charles and both come off like victims of parental-inflicted PTSD.Ĭharles-a brilliant artist in his own right and R. The Crumb boys grew up with a pill-addicted mother and a violent alcoholic father. While Crumb has always portrayed himself as a sort of deviant/pervert/degenerate, he is most definitely the most normal one in his family. During that time, Zwigoff was living off of “about $200 a month and living with back pain so intense that I spent three years with a loaded gun on the pillow next to my bed, trying to get up the nerve to kill myself.” It’s from this statement that Roger Ebert clarified the film may have saved Zwigoff’s life, meaning that his obsession with completing the film might’ve tempered his suicidal impulses.Īlthough Zwigoff and Crumb actually were very good friends at the time the film as made (they still are and once even played in a 1920s-style string band together), it is true that Crumb was hesitant to make the film, and it’s easy to see why. This was a legendary miscommunication that stemmed from a comment made by Zwigoff describing the intense nine years of production. The famous myth about the 1994 documentary Crumb is that director Terry Zwigoff only got Robert Crumb to agree to make it because Zwigoff threatened to kill himself if Crumb didn’t participate. Lynch actually had nothing whatsoever to do with the film, but allowed his name to be used for promotion. I didn't think that added much, certainly not that sour stuff of some women.Note the presentation by David Lynch. Of course they must also be interpreted by a number of experts. In addition, the comics are coarse in subject matter, but at the same time also pleasantly absurd and above all very imaginative. Found it striking how often laughed about anything and everything.Ĭrumb's comics are also extensively discussed and I found them cool and bizarre at the same time despite the high level of disturbing. Of the three sons, Robert Crumb has nevertheless become successful, although I don't think he cares that much. The three of them also come across as troubled. Not too happy was that due to a tyrannical father and an amphetamine-addicted mother. His two brothers also make frequent appearances in the film, talking about how their family grew up. But it is also a reflection on a dysfunctional family. Dat vond ik niet zoveel toevoegen, zeker niet dat zure gedoe van sommige vrouwen.Ĭrumb is about the artist Robert Crumb who makes controversial comics with his cool style and choice of subjects.
